How to Increase the Accuracy of your Tarot Readings

Are you a Tarot reader who is just dying to increase the accuracy of your Tarot card readings?

Do you want to know the steps which you can take to get better at reading Tarot for yourself and others?

If your answer is yes, read on…

Contrary to popular belief, the key to improving the accuracy of your Tarot readings is not found in memorizing more meanings.

If you’re on a mission to improve your readings, the best way to do so is to: form a relationship with your deck; link your card meanings to your own experience; ask for spiritual assistance; and set your intentions pre-reading.

Let’s look at all of these points in detail!

Form a Relationship with your Deck

Forming a relationship with your main working deck helps to cement your intentions for your readings. If you have a special relationship with your working deck, your readings will feel more ritualistic. When your deck feels magical, your readings will be magical.

So, how can you form a relationship with your Tarot deck?

I recommend that you treat your Tarot cards as though they are an extension of yourself. Carry them around with you, sleep with them next to your bed, and shuffle them whenever you get the chance. House your cards in a silk bag and/or wooden Tarot box.

It is also very important that you don’t let other people play with your cards. Your cards should feel like they are yours and yours alone, so it is not a good idea to have them contaminated with other people’s energy. Make sure that you keep the physical contact which your cards have with anyone other than you to a minimum.

Executing the above deck care practices will ensure that your deck becomes an object which is sacred for you. Treating your deck as though it is special helps it to become one of your mystical tools which you honour and respect; this will add to the accuracy of your Tarot readings.

Work on your Interpretation Skills

One thing which will deeply affect the accuracy of your Tarot readings, is an inability to interpret certain cards in different circumstances. You may struggle to read some Tarot cards because you cannot link them to particular situations. If you do not have a good grasp of how to interpret some cards, then you will not be able to accurately read your Tarot spreads when these ‘trouble’ cards appear.

To remedy this, I recommend that you get in the habit of pulling a card a day.

However, instead of pulling your card a day at the start of your day, pull it at the end of the day then try to link that card back to whatever has happened during the day. Ask yourself questions such as:

How does this card reflects the day’s events?
What situations happened which would align with this card?
How does this card match how I felt today when X happened?

Doing this exercise frequently will help you interpret all of your cards in different ways, and this will add to the accuracy of your readings.

Ask for Spiritual Assistance

Asking your ancestors for spiritual assistance before every reading will improve the accuracy of your readings because spirits can help you to open up your intuition.

Your ancestors can guide you on the correct answers, what to focus on, and where to put your energy when you’re reading your Tarot spread.

Building a relationship with your ancestral spirits requires work outside of your Tarot readings. Your ancestors are always there, but you have to pay attention to how they communicate with you. Two ways which you can bond with your ancestral spirits is to take note of your dreams and notice the signs they send you.

Your ancestors will send you clues and messages through your dreams. The more attention to pay to these messages, the more frequently you’ll receive them. I recommend that you record your dreams first thing in the morning.

Even if you never remember your dreams, write down everything which you remember; this will help to train your brain to recall further contact in the future.

Another way you can bond with your ancestral spirits, is to notice the signs which they send you during your waking life. Your sign will be something which reminds you of an ancestor or something you associate with them.

For example, I associate bees with my granddad because just before he died he had me hold a bee in my garden to show me that I didn’t have to be scared of them. After he died, I began to catch sight of bees whenever I needed comfort. I would see real bees, drawings of bees, toy bees, and even hear the word ‘bee’ when I was out and about. Noticing these signs help strengthen my intuition and psychic abilities for your readings.

Set your Intentions Pre-Reading

It is very important that you set your intentions pre-reading. In fact, I would go as far as to say that this is the number one thing you can do to ensure that your Tarot readings are accurate.

I recommend that you be intentional about pretty much every aspect of your reading. Before you even begin your reading:

Decide exactly what it is you want to know.
Make sure your question is as detailed as possible. For example, instead of just thinking about you and Richard and throwing a spread, make sure you be specific. Make statements such as, “I wish to know if Richard and I have a future together”.
Build timing into your question. Setting a time frame into your reading is the only way to be certain of how long your reading is going to take to play out. For example, you could ask something like, “I wish to know if Richard and I have a future together as a couple within the next twelve months”.
Decide before the reading if you’re going to use reversals, significators etc. and how you’re going to interpret them.
Make sure that your spread covers every aspect of the situation which you wish to know more about. For example, is it important that you know what your partner’s intentions are? Be clear on this pre-reading and select the right spread for the job.

Once you are clear on your goals for the reading, write them down before you start shuffling and laying out your spread. Setting your intentions pre-reading will make your readings more accurate because you will not be second guessing yourself during the interpretation process.
