Another 10 of Pentacles kind of day. In the Rider Waite Smith tarot, there are a few images and features/symbols that are predominant and characteristic of this card and the esoteric meanings behind it. ~•~ Most notably is the Kabbalah Tree of Life that is front and centre - the pathways from Source/God to Earth/Life. When upright the energy is channeled downward to the material world (from Kether to Malkuth) and when the card is reversed, it can symbolize the journey to travel upward from Malkuth to Kether. ~•~ This card is also a generational card about legacies - ancestral and future legacies, passing down inheritance both monetary and knowledge. It's about honouring ancestors but also realizing we too will become ancestors - even if we do not have biological children of our own. Ancestors can be biological but also spiritual as part of an ethnic or religious group as a collective ancestral lineage. Passing down customs and traditions can be part of the message from the card. Ancestors don't only have to focus on biological and can be those who have a spiritual or cultural influence from a hereditary/heritage perspective. You can go as far back as 300 years or more - it all leads up to you today and the future. ~•~ The 10 of Pentacles is also a card that I associate with the pugs. The Tarot Pugs are helping to create a presence and legacy that they will be remembered far and wide. The 10 of Pentacles can also be a card to represent dogs (and the Moon card and the Fool card too) while the Queen of Wands can indicate cats as well as the Strength card. ~•~ Card image from the Rider Tarot by U.S. Games Systems Inc.
The holidays are coming up and that means for many people, it's time when family gets together. For some families, Thanksgiving and/or the December holidays are the only time to be able to get together. While this is often a time to eat and catch up, this is also a good opportunity to talk about things like family history (ancestral and even medical) and also future planning like wills and estates. ~•~ For some families, parents and grandparents are getting older and these conversations need to be had sooner than later. From personal experience, I've seen bickering and arguments happen just as someone is being laid to rest all over disputes of the final will. I've seen tantrums happen over inheritances and wills that weren't valid because the executor died before the person who had the will. These can sometimes be avoided if final wishes are made clear and legally binding before the inevitable or even discussion about living wills. This is why it's important to keep wills up-to-date. ~•~ Now that we live in a modern world full of passwords and online lives, it's advisable to have in a will or a secure folder where to find a master password list that is encrypted and password protected so that in the case of death someone that you trust can close accounts (banking, social media, subscriptions, etc.) This is very important. ~•~ These are difficult conversations to have but necessary. Be sure to carefully read and draft a final will to be reviewed by a professional and reliable wills and estate lawyer/law firm also. ~•~ The holidays are also a good time to ask about family history (if you're comfortable doing so.) This can be an ideal time to do some family tree planning and research, gather antiques and memorabilia from family to look or talk about. This can also be a time to create new family traditions to pass on to the next generation or even create a time capsule for a future generation to open and have a glimpse of what is was like nowadays. As 2019 marks the end of a decade, this could be an excellent opportunity to create a time capsule of the 2010s to open in another 10 or 20 years from now. ~•~ Card image from the Tattoo Tarot. In occult studies, teachings and practices, the Baphomet is a deity, demon and/or symbolic icon depicted as representing opposites unified in one being. ~•~ The Baphomet is depicted as a goat-headed hermaphrodite representing the lightness, darkness, masculine and feminine and has in hundreds of years been said to be worshipped by the Knights Templar in the 14th century, written about by Eliphas Lévi and Aleister Crowley, and a symbolic figure of the Church of Satan, the Satanic Temple and Left Hand Path (LHP) teachings and schools of thought. ~•~ Written on each arm of the Baphomet are the Latin words “Solve” and “Coagula” meaning “Dissolve” and “Coagulate”. These words suggest the alchemical process of spiritual enlightenment and transformation of the self to dissolve the “ego” and to join the Prima Materia or “Prime Material / The Spirit / The One”. ~•~ Here's a Baphomet Tarot Spread that you can try: ~•~ 1. Light: How can I embrace the light that is inside me? 2. Dark: How can I embrace the dark that is inside me? 3. Masculine: How can I heal the Divine Masculine within myself? 4. Feminine: How can I heal the Divine Feminine within myself? 5. Dissolve (“Solve”): How can I begin to “dissolve” my ego (false sense of self) that may have a negative effect on others and/or myself? 6. Coagulate/Join (“Coagula”): How can I begin the work to connect myself (my mind/soul/higher self) to the Prima Materia (Prime Material / The Spirit / The One) 7. As Above: What part of the macrocosm (Universe, Planets, World) is affecting me most at this time? 8. As Below: What part of my own microcosm (my inner workings, thoughts, shadows, nuances) is affecting my life in the everyday world? ~•~ Want this reading done for you? Intuition, emotions and feelings are often beyond words. When we try to verbally explain or express what we feel or interpret, we can often lose the meaning of the deepness or profound. Sometimes other languages are better at expressing these sorts of things better than English can. Words can carry so much meaning that is often lost in translation. ~•~ When working spells and rituals, language is one of the most important components of it. Decades ago, Catholic masses were only done in Latin and in some places are still done so today. My mum remembered going to mass in the 1960s as a child in Ontario, Canada where the mass was only performed in Latin (though my mum didn't understand much of it.) However, the feeling of a ceremony performed in a language different than spoken in every day life (where you live/work) can evoke a transformative experience. ~•~ Growing up, I would attend Easter at the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Montreal, Quebec, Canada in which the mass was in only Ukrainian. At my young age, I didn't really understand much of it, but the hymns and singing of the mass was an experience within itself. ~•~ This is why I've done spells and rituals in my secondary languages of Icelandic and Ukrainian as these shift the mindset away from my common thinking and language of English. Focusing on the sound and pronunciation create focus and intent. ~•~ Learning languages or another language can be fundamental to enhancing personal experience in ritual, spell work and ceremony. At the very least, translating a spell into another language accurately can be a transformational experience when performed. However, if working with a language that you're not fluent in, be sure to research each word to understand the full meaning and context first. Taking lessons in person or online can help with understanding how to read, write and speak the language efficiently. ~•~ Card image from The Moonchild Tarot by Danielle Noel.
