This week’s card drawn are from Tarot of the Cat People by Karen Kuykendall (U.S. Games Systems, Inc.) and Compendium of Constellations by Black and the Moon.
This week’s reading focuses on a tarot card each for Monday/Tuesday, Wednesday/Thursday and Friday/Saturday/Sunday and an oracle card for the summary or lesson of the week.
Let’s see what may be ahead for this week:
Monday / Tuesday
3 of Cups
If you’re in Canada, Monday is a holiday due to Canada Day being on the Saturday (July 1).
If you’re in the USA, Independence Day is on Tuesday, July 4. These holidays are traditionally times for people to get together with family and friends to celebrate.
This can be a great opportunity and occasion for socializing and catching up with friends and family with lots of social activities and events happening.
We may feel that being in Cancer season, as much as we want to be in a social setting, we may prefer more intimate one-on-one conversations.
If in a group setting, we may feel that we don’t want to be in the centre of the celebration, but rather off to the side to watch from the sidelines.
But, this doesn’t mean we won’t want to be social though; instead we may rather let people approach us for conversations, sit back and listen to other people talk and share stories.
We may want still to be a part of the activities and festivities without being in the middle of it all.
If at a party, you may prefer to spend time in a quiet place, hang out with the family pet while being among people but not needing to be overly social.
Some people may worry that you’re not having a good time, but on the contrary, you may feel quite content to be out among friends or family and be part of the group.
You don’t have to feel like you have to be extroverted, dancing on the tables and drinking in order to show you’re having a good time.
Just let people know you’re happy to be there (which can be annoying to some introverts who feel that they have to reassure everyone they’re happy, just because they’re quiet and not talkative).
Flash a friendly smile and observe the fun and excitement around you during these two days.
Wednesday / Thursday
Ace of Cups
After a couple of days of socializing and events, you may feel pretty content and relaxed.
If you’re in a relationship or just starting one, you may feel as though you’re on cloud nine and walking on air. There may be a renewal of love and affection.
If you’ve been in a relationship for some time or even longer, you may feel like being in the honeymoon phase again or falling in love all over again.
If you’re starting a new relationship, this could mean falling in love, sending or receiving love notes, declarations of love and/or feeling a deeper emotional and/or spiritual connection.
This may be in part to the Sun moving further into Cancer as we get more in touch with our emotions and feelings, and having cravings for security in love, family and home life.
We may feel more deeply, which in turn may make us feel more sensitive to people and the environment around us.
You may feel like focusing on the positive aspects, which will be needed to keep this loving feeling staying high.
Trust your intuition and your gut feelings, especially during these two days.
If you have an immediate gut reaction or feeling about something, don’t second guess yourself.
You may be right or wrong, but in the long run, it may be better to just go with your instinct and intuition rather than take an unnecessary risk.
You may feel more connected to people and places around you.
Your intuition and empathic abilities may be more heightened, so you may receive psychic impressions through emotions or feelings first.
Take time to analyze what your feelings or emotions are trying to tell you. You may have a feeling about something that you “can’t quite put your finger on.”
If you get the feeling of “Yes” or “No” about something, go with what your feelings tell you.
Friday / Saturday / Sunday
It may seem strange to go from two lovely, flowing, emotionally positive cards right to The Devil for the weekend.
This may show a shift in mentality from the outside world into our internal world.
This may represent our shadows and shadow self, the work that we have to do on the inside to allow ourselves to feel free in the outside world.
The Devil from a Christian perspective instills fear and negativity within ourselves and in our lives.
We can look at The Devil as a symbol and metaphor for what may be negatively affecting us in some way and the need to address it.
This may be the skeletons in our closet, the secrets that we keep, addictions, bad habits or behaviours, things that we do that we know are bad for us, but we do them anyway.
On a more positive and exhilarating note, The Devil can symbolise those guilty pleasures that we have, sometimes the kind that we don’t tell anyone about.
It can be the fetishes, taboos and sex as well.
It could simply imply having a “devilishly good time.”
The question to ask when The Devil appears: is it doing more harm than good? Does it interfere with where you want to be? Does it hold you back?
In the Rider Waite Smith version, the demons next to the Devil have loose chains on their necks; they’re free to slip out of them at anytime.
Or is it that they prefer to be chained because they want to be there or do they feel there’s no other option?
Finding what The Devil means to you, whether you fear what it represents or revel in it can peek a glimpse into the inclinations of the shadow self depending how you view what the shadow represents.
As we see from the card for the weekend, the theme of fear comes up again.
There’s different levels of fear and everyone handles them differently.
There can be fear of crowds, groups, commitment, intimacy, the dark, and shadows to name a few for this week.
Some may be rational fears; others may call those fears irrational.
Some fears may stem from personal experiences; others may come from experiences in past lives.
What are your fears?
Sometimes we’re afraid to even speak about fears as if the very speaking of it can bring what we fear most into reality.
Sometimes we’re even afraid to think about it out of fear that we may think it to happen.
This week may not necessarily be about overcoming fears, but rather understanding what our fears are and why we respond to them in a certain way.
Fear is a primal emotion and often not analyzed. We hear, see or read something and before we can analyze it, we get an immediate response of fear.
The emotion is so quick, the immediate “fight or flight” response kicks in.
But, do we really understand what we fear?
If you’re in a safe place or have a place that you can make as a sanctuary and you feel comfortable to do so, perhaps choose a mild fear and think about why you fear it.
Sometimes voicing it and saying why, following with word association and a string of thoughts to lead you to what you may call the “worst case scenario.”
This can sometimes help us to prepare, put a plan into action how to prepare in case that fear happened, then knowing how to respond.
Similar to the fire drills in schools to prepare students in the event of a fire and how to respond and safely evacuate when in such a situation is easy to panic.
If you feel comfortable journaling or analyzing a fear, do so in a safe place where you feel emotional and spiritually secure.
If not, perhaps be aware if you have any fear this week and try to understand where it stems from and why.
Fear may be trying to get a message to you, which you may need to listen carefully to understand what it is trying to tell you.
